Top 11 CP-Pokemon after rebalance!
11th: Alakazam
Status: BuffedStamina: 110, Attack: 271, Defense: 194
Stats: +85 Attack; +42 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +64.57%
Maximum CP: 2887
Many of us older Pokemon fans are extremely excited to see Alakazam’s CP buff. He was fun using in the original Pokemon games and many of us were shocked seeing how useless he was in Pokemon Go. I specifically made this a top-11 analysis to squeeze him in. Although he ranks at 11th, he received a huge CP change and outpaced Gengar.
10th: MachampStatus: BuffedStamina: 180, Attack: 234, Defense: 162Stats: +36 Attack; -18 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +12.09%
Maximum CP: 2889
We are glad to see Machamp buffed as well. A bit surprised to see his defense partially decrease, but his type must make up for it. His increase is not as big as Alakazam’s, but it is still nice to see him receive something.
9th: FlareonStatus: BuffedStamina: 130, Attack: 246, Defense: 204Stats: +8 Attack; +26 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +10.66%
Maximum CP: 2904
Flareon remains the second strongest Pokemon of the Eevee evolutions and enjoyed a little increased-buff. Currently, Flareon resides 9th in the game in terms of biggest CP-potential, but his biggest buff came in the defensive department. His stamina is slightly lower than most on the list, but his defense and attack are much higher than Machamp’s.
7th – tied: GolemStatus: BuffedStamina: 160, Attack: 211, Defense: 229Stats: +35 Attack; +31 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +28.93%
Maximum CP: 2916
I think we can all rejoice seeing Golem’s significant buff. Before, Golem was an alright-Pokemon but absolutely not a top ten contender like he is now. Old-time veteran players should be happy, but it will be interesting: Will he become a top Gym defender as a rock-type Pokemon? We shall see, but for now I will be happy if I can see more Golems in the local gyms!
7th – tied: ExeggutorStatus: Nerfed
Stamina: 190, Attack: 233, Defense: 158Stats: +1 Attack; -6 Defense
Percentage CP Change: -1.42%
Maximum CP: 2916
Exeggutor is the only Pokemon nerfed that remains in the top 10. He received a slight adjustment in attack, but took a slight decrease in his defensive abilities. Still, we expect him to be a desirable Pokemon to use, although that analysis will come at a later time.
6th: LaprasStatus: SameStamina: 260, Attack: 186, Defense: 190Stats: +0 Attack; +0 Defense
Percentage CP Change: 0.00%
Maximum CP: 2980
Although Lapras has no changes in term of CP there will be much to analyze. Before, Lapras was a top 3 gym defender and although top-CP does not necessarily imply best attacker or defender, it will be interesting to see if Lapras’s power-ranking took a hit. Either way, we hope not because Lapras is a beauty.
5th: VaporeonStatus: BuffStamina: 260, Attack: 205, Defense: 177Stats: +19 Attack; +9 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +13.12%
Maximum CP: 3157
Vaporeon remained the number 1 Eevee evolution after the calibration. I am a bit surprised to see him buffed since I still remember the beginning days of Vaporeon dominating everything with water gun, but perhaps this buff makes sense; especially with Eevees removed from 10km eggs (although we do not wish for that return, Niantic). He slightly received both an attack and defense bonus and sits comfortably in 5th place.
4th: GyaradosStatus: BuffStamina: 190, Attack: 237, Defense: 197Stats: +45 Attack; +1 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +23.75%
Maximum CP: 3281
We should really split this into two: Legacy Gyarados and Gyarados, but for convenience sake we do not. Legacy Gyarados is one with dragon breath; the move was removed from the game but it is really effective against Dragonite. Nonetheless, it is relieving to see Gyarados buffed since we essentially are pro-fisherman by the time we receive one (or eight by now). His defense slightly increased, but his attack was the major change. We will see how he is as an effective gym attacker.
3rd: RhydonStatus: BuffStamina: 210, Attack: 222, Defense: 206Stats: +56 Attack; +46 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +51.78%
Maximum CP: 3300
What an absolutely huge difference! Rhydon was highly regarded as a useless Pokemon before his recent CP change. Rhydon will now be a deadly contender as his overall combat-power was boosted by a staggering 51.78%. His attack and defense saw huge changes and many veteran players will be relieved seeing this. It will be very interesting to see how this impacts his gym performance.
2nd: SnorlaxStatus: BuffStamina: 320, Attack: 190, Defense: 190Stats: +10 Attack; +10 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +8.43%
Maximum CP: 3355
Snorlax must have taken a good nap because he woke up a bit stronger with the recent update. He only received a slight attack and defense boost, but Snorlax remained the number 2 CP-obtainable Pokemon. We do not know how the recent changes will impact his gym ranking, but we do know he is still a formidable opponent! Congratulations Snorlax — we still love you. Unless we are facing you.
1st: DragoniteStatus: BuffStamina: 182, Attack: 263, Defense: 201Stats: +13 Attack; -11 Defense
Percentage CP Change: +2.44%
Maximum CP: 3581
Dragonite remains the number one obtainable-CP Pokemon in terms of CP-value, but we do not know how the recent updates will impact his gym performance. He received a slight buff, but his defense has slightly decreased and Legacy Gyarados and his dragonbreath received a significant boost. Regardless, Dragonite remains number one on the list. His CP is higher than Mew, Moltras, Zapdos, and Articuno.
